Classico Villa Antinori Riserva dei Marchesi Antinori wants to be a return to the origins. The family has opened a new winery in the Chianti Classico and so wanted to highlight a historic label. The first vintage of this wine was produced in 1928. Until 2000 the product represented the idea of ​​Chianti Classico according to the Antinori family. The blend is composed of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet.
Its denomination is Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva. The vines are grown in the historical area with guyot pruning and spurred cordon. The lands are located at an altitude of less than 700 meters just as required by the specification. The lands are made up of a mixture of clay, limestone, sand and arenaceous substrates.

This allows for good water drainage that protects against harmful stagnation. The climate is particularly favorable. The good exposure and high temperatures in the months of July and August favor the good ripening of the grapes. The strong temperature variations between day and night also contribute to fixing sugars and aromas.

The harvest takes place in a period between mid-September and early October depending on the climatic conditions of the year. Generally, the Sangiovese grapes are harvested first and then the Cabernet grapes. The two batches are vinified separately until the malolactic phase.

The latter is carried out in stainless steel for the Sangiovese and in first and second passage barriques for the Cabernet. After assembly, the wine rests partly in large barrels and partly in barriques. Bottling will take place in June 2 years after the harvest.
