Vidal Fleury 2021 Cotes Du Rhone Rouge 750ml
Our cuvée comes from plots located both north and south of the appellation, a true reflection of the quality of the Côte-Rôtie vineyards. Almost all the vines are planted on metamorphic rocks: mica schist in the north, leuco gneiss south of Ampuis, and dark migmatite in the southern part of the appellation. The Côte-Rôtie vineyard is one of the northernmost in the Rhône Valley. The steep, sloping terraces face due south, bathed in sunshine all day long, and the influence of the surrounding mountains brings a refreshing quality. The 2021 vintage was marked by its freshness. May and June, cooler than usual, delayed flowering. The summer sunshine provided the necessary warmth to enrich the grapes with sugars and aromas. Then, meticulous aging, tailored to each wine and each terroir, brought out the full potential of our wines. The nose is intense and complex, expressing notes of violet, blackcurrant, and black olives, followed by spicier notes of pepper and nutmeg.
The palate is rich, full of freshness and velvety texture, with a persistent finish revealing roasted notes.
