Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection No. 22 Super Seasoned Oak is a limited 2026 Kentucky bourbon that explores the barrel before the spirit — pairing American oak staves seasoned outdoors for five to seven years with nine-year-matured bourbon, bottled at 100.4 proof.
Created under Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall, Super Seasoned Oak examines the influence of the wood itself. Rather than staves seasoned for months or roughly a year, this release uses American oak exposed to the elements for five to seven years before barrel construction — prolonged weathering that reduces harsh green tannins and changes how the oak contributes sweetness, spice, and structure during maturation. The bourbon then aged nine years, a stage separate from the wood-seasoning period, before bottling at 50.2% ABV (100.4 proof). The result layers caramel and vanilla sweetness with fruit, bright orange oils, and warming baking spice — a focused study in barrel preparation for followers of Woodford Reserve’s experimental Master’s Collection.
