Damilano 2020 Lecinquevigne Barolo 750ml
Winemaker Notes
Ruby red in color with orange reflections. An intense bouquet, with tertiary notes of rose, leather, tobacco and emerging notes of violet and tar. The palate is ample and embracing, with prevailing impressions of a soft, persistent long finish.
Lecinquevigne is perfect for braised meat , game, mushrooms and aged cheeses.
94 Wine Spectator
Stitched with pure cherry and raspberry fruit, this red is supple and fragrant, showing lovely harmony. Mineral, tar and eucalyptus accents add detail. There’s plenty of structure, with vibrant acidity and refined tannins focusing the finish.
93 James Suckling
There is a rustic, iron-like, rugged quality to this full-bodied and firmly tannic wine that will mellow somewhat with time. But enjoy it for the balsam, tar and red cherry aromas that lead to a meaty, mineral palate. Best from 2027.
91 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
This wine represents a blend of fruit from five MGA sites: Brunate, Liste, Cerequio, Cannubi and Raviole. The Damilano 2020 Barolo Lecinquevigne is a little too ripe in my opinion, with baked plum and cooked cherry. It starts off with moderate clarity, but it does take on more focus the longer the wine stays in the glass. You also get earthy tones of iris root and tea leaf. The wine is aged in large oak botti.
