This 100% Xinomavro is a blend of higher altitude vineyards around the village of Fyteia and the warmer, lower elevation vineyards adjacent to the village of Trilofos, from predominantly schist, granite and limestone soils. The vines are young and non-irrigated. The microclimate in Naoussa region is warm continental with moderate levels of rainfall being spread equally throughout the seasons. The cooling winds from the mountains moderate temperatures, allowing for a long, even growing season. The Thymiopoulos family has farmed their land here for several generations according the principals of biodynamics. All wines are fermented with wild yeast, and raised without any contact with oak. The result is a fragrant and fresh expression of Xinomavro, with notes of red fruit and herbs, with underlying acidity and a lingering finish.
